Cataract Bridge Mill Heritage Statement, Mellor

Paul Butler Associates prepared a heritage statement to accompany a planning application for the residential redevelopment of the Cataract Bridge Mill site in Mellor following the demolition of the site’s derelict and heavily-modified late nineteenth century mill and other associated buildings and structures.
The statement assessed the relative archaeological, historical and architectural significance of the site and concluded that whilst of minor local significance, its buildings were not worthy of retention.
The local authority’s heritage and conservation team agreed with our view and the planning application was approved.
