Swan Street Archaeological Investigation

Paul Butler Associates carried out a series of archaeological investigation works at a site on Swan Street in Manchester’s historic Northern Quarter.
We undertook trial trenching and carried out a watching brief on ground works in order to discharge an archaeological condition attached to a planning approval to redevelop the site for office use.
Our investigations revealed the basement walls of the nineteenth century warehouses and shops which historically occupied the site. These features were recorded before development of the approved scheme commenced.
